Lavender Essential Oil - the smell of a hot, mediterranean summer.
Who won't think of summer, sunshine and lavender blooming fields. Lavender smell is shimmering in the air above the fields - harvest time! We grow the Lavender on own fields in Messines. The flowers are collected by hand around lunchtime and destilled in a traditional copper alembic.
Effects of Lavender Oil
The name Lavender originates from the latin word lavare = to wash, it was favoured bath additive in antique times. Lavender plants were burned in sickrooms to reduce germs. Lavender Essential Oil can be called a panacea. It might help with respiratory problems, headaches, acne, burns, insect bites, rheumatism, aching muscles. It has positive effects on the psyche as well, it may help with nerousness or problems falling asleep.
Examples of use
With problems falling asleep or nervousness put some drops in an oil burner or on a tissue and leave it close to you. For internal use, mix 3-5 drops with honey and drink it with a glass of handwarm water or a cup of tea. For skin treatment, blend a good carrier oil like olive or almond with 3-5 drops.
Precautions
Due to its sleep related effects it should not be used while driving or operating machines. If you feel tired and it is not the desired effect, stop the use. Do not use during pregnancy.
